A little powerhouse, June 10, 2010 By This review is from: Velodyne VX-11 (Electronics) I sometimes struggle with how to spend what money I have - get the better of the lesser brand, or the lesser of the better brand? In this case, I chose to get the lesser of the better brand.
The VX-11 is Velodyne's entry-level sub. Its a 10", ported, front-firing unit with a 100W built-in amp. Go to any AV enthusiast forum for advice and you'll be laughed off the site for considering such a modestly-spec'd sub...but I ignored them, and I'm glad I did.
In the $250-and-below category, you'd be hard pressed to find something better. Velodyne is a premium subwoofer manufacturer, and has been respected as such for many years. Surely they would not put their name on an inferior product. Trust me - they didn't.
Unpacking the unit, I found that it was double-boxed, packed securely with foam corners, and completely bagged. It included a power cord and an owners manual. The sub was not overly hefty, but not a lightweight either. Construction and finish are... Read more

It stopped working 3-4 years back but it sounded very nice when I had it. Since I live in an apartment now, there was no need to get a massive or expensive sub as a replacement. I decided on something nice and cheap, especially with this crappy economy. This subwoofer is perfect. Not as good as the NHT, which I forgot the model, but very very good for its price. Not too boomy but not super tight like the NHT. Of course the NHT was over 3x the cost!
If you are on a budget and want something that sounds nice and is attractive, this sub is for you. I use it with my NHT Superone and Superzeros.

Velodyne VX-11, January 14, 2011 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Velodyne VX-11 (Electronics) Great sounding sub while it worked. Stopped working a few days after I received it. I called in the return to Electronics Expo and it took almost a month for them to send another. I ordered the same sub from Vanns the same day I called in the return to Expo. I got the one from Vanns in three days for about %50.00 less. The sub sounds great. Doesn't have a lot of low end for some movies but as far as music it's great. I've had the second one installed for about a month now and I think I will install the other one now. Nothing against Amazon but as for Electronics Expo I will never refer them or order anything again.
If your looking for a quality sub at a budget price look no further. Just don't order it from Electronics Expo.
