Great Center Channel Speaker!, January 4, 2012 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Polk Audio TL3 Black Center Channel Speaker (Accessory) I recently purchased a new Samsung LED 46" TV and realized very quickly that my hopes of using the TV speakers weren't going to be realized as the TV's native sound is terrible. I attempted to use our existing bookshelf speakers to see if they would be enough of an improvement but couldn't get the dialogue to be loud enough to satisfy our needs. That said I ended up purchasing a Yamaha Soundbar from Costco and returned it the next day. It was one that didn't include the subwoofer--it was just the bar--but the sound there wasn't good at all. In reading reviews for soundbars and also going to a couple different stores to test them in person I have to say I wasn't impressed. The only soundbars that sounded good were made by Polk and included a sub-woofer but they were upwards of $350 to $500 bucks. I then came to the conclusion that a decent center channel speaker, along with my existing receiver(Dolby 5.1 ready)and bookshelf speakers may do the trick. I researched center channel... Read more

Having a high tone hearing loss from mostly music, makes it harder to hear the voices while watching tv and needed something better..... Built using the same tweeter design found in their flagship full-sized loudspeakers, as well as exclusive state-of-the-art technologies, the TL3 overcomes some of the usual limitations of compact speakers. You'll hear the kind of accuracy and detail you expect from high end Polk. The 3/4 ring radiator tweeter (not found in TL1 or TL2) made a big enough differance, for me, to spend the extra money, plus you dont have a huge block in front of your TV. I searched and searched and read many reviews on Polk, Klipsche, and Boston Acoustics brand center speakers. My problem was that I only have 6 inches below my TV to set the speaker on my fireplace mantle. So I first tried out the Polk CS10. This was a great sounding speaker but obviously too big for my space. Then I tried the Klipsche KC-25 which is a lot more expensive but looks like it was made ten years ago. I mean this day and age and they make a big rectangle and stick speakers in it and slap a grill on the front and expect people to pay $300 for it. Both of the Polk speakers looked much nicer than the Klipsche and were about a $100 less. Klipsche is supposed to have this horn tweeter technology but I thought the highs were much better pronounced by the Polk speakers. So in my final test I set up this TL3 side by side with the Klipsche KC-25. Now mind you the Klipsche should blow this little speaker out of the water considering larger... Read more
